Amy Macdonald - heißeste Show im Wiener Gasometer

Knapp 1600 Fans haben gestern Nacht die im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes heiße Show von Amy Macdonald am heißesten Tag des Jahres abgefeiert. Die sympathische Schottin hat mit Band auch richtig fett abgeliefert und ihre Fans bei Rekordtemperaturen in der Halle zum begeisterten Mitkreischen animiert. 15 Songs lang. „Dabei schmelzen Schotten eigentlich ab einer bestimmten Temperatur“, hat die 34-jährige mit den Fans im Gasometer gescherzt. Ö3-Reporter Norbert Ivanek hat sie backstage zum Interview getroffen.

Die quirlige Schottin aus Glasgow geht auch gleich in die Vollen. „Shows in Österreich sind für mich immer ein Highlight“, strahlt sie und erinnert sich mit Gänsehaut an ihren legendären Auftritt auf der Ö3-Bühne beim Wiener Donauinselfest 2017 vor knapp 80.000 Zuschauern.

„I remember it being massive, massive crowds. I’ve played in Vienna lots of times. It’s been really nice to come back here. But I remember doing the Donauinselfestival, just thinking it was great to be part of it and a really exciting day. An exciting experience. It’s just when you see that many people enjoying themselves and singing along and having a good time, it’s always a really nice thing being on the stage and looking out into that.“

Im Ö3-Interview resümiert sie die aufregenden 15 Jahre, die seit ihrem Debutalbum vergangen sind. „Dabei hab’ ich mir nie etwas erwartet“, sagt sie. "Aber es ist doch unglaublich, dass ich jetzt nach 15 Jahren noch immer da bin und auf großen Festivals spielen darf. Und mit einen Song wie „This Is The Life" in der Tasche, der niemals weg sein wird und jetzt dank TikTok sogar wieder in die Charts eingestiegen ist, macht’s doppelt Spaß.“

"Gosh, it was 15 years since I put my first album out and I never really expected anything. I didn’t know what would happen. Like, it’s such a strange industry that you can expect anything. So the fact that 15 years later I am still here doing big festivals and doing shows is amazing.
And a song like “This Is The Life”, for example, just seems to never go away, even now it’s coming back in to charts again because of things like TikTok. And that is great. I mean, I love that new people are discovering my music. I do sometimes wish that my new songs could get out there and get leads, but I’m not really complaining them. I feel very lucky that I have a song that seems to connect so well with people and has done for 15 years now. I’m very grateful for that.
